Here I am, Lord. Wondering how I’ve traded your presence for the empty promises of this world.
The lure was strong and I was weak.
I saw pleasure. But it left me in need.
I saw fulfillment. But it left me defeated.
With my head hung low, I returned.
You saw my crumbling heart and wrapped me up again.
You took charge, crushing my enemies… even as I hid my face in you.
You washed me clean. You called me yours.
By your grace, I was welcomed in.
You meet me here again.
